Fed: Beattie eagerly anticipates messy Ryan preselection

Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE says he is eagerly anticipating a messy public brawl
in the Liberal Party during the Ryan pre-selection.

Mr BEATTIE says the tension between various sectors of the Liberal Party in Brisbane's
western suburbs will bubble to the surface as candidates fight to replace outgoing Defence
Minister JOHN MOORE.

Mr BEATTIE also predicts the Liberals, who have been vocal critics of the Labor Party's
so-called rortergate, will end up with egg on their faces over the preselection.

Meanwhile, deputy premier TERRY MACKENROTH has criticised Mr MOORE for forcing a federal
by-election six months out from a general election.
