THE SPCA's decision to withdraw its investigation against Tony Yengeni should be welcomed. However, one must ask who made the complaint to the SPCA and on what basis.
As I suspected, the complaint was simply based on media photos and reports, not eye-witness accounts. It is sad that money that could have been used to help abused animals was wasted on this investigation. However, without this clumsy attempt, we would not have had the opportunity to debate the issue of culture in South Africa.
