Displaced workers in New York and nine other states can call a new, toll-free government hot line to help find benefits, retraining and new-job listings.

The number is (877) 872-5627 (877-US2JOBS) and started working Tuesday. A telecommunications device for the deaf can be reached at (877) 889-5627 (TTY-JOBS).

Workers who have lost jobs or need help can call weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and speak to a customer service representative about federal, state and local programs and information about contacting local agencies …
